Dear Parents,
Tisha Bav is always a powerful day but especially this year. After our night program, we had a late wake-up and a morning program discussing the concept of kinnot, personal poetic expressions of tragedies; communal, national and individual. After our discussion, we had all the teens write their own personal expression of a tragedy.
In the afternoon, we watched a very moving movie of the disengagement from Gaza in 2005 called the Home Game. It is a nowaday example of a tragedy on the national level. Brought me and others to tears.
We finished the day at the Western Wall with many other NCSY programs and then to a milk restaurant in the center of town.
We ate with one other group and broke out towards the end of the meal in song and dance. It was amazing!
I also have to say that I am so proud of all those who fasted the entire day as they tried to connect to the meaning of the day. Kol Hakavod!
