The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
NCSY TJJ BUS 3 Chevron, Kfar Etzion and the Tomb of Rachel

Dear NCSY TJJ Bus 3 Family,

We began our day with the prospect of seeing history. We had the opportunity to visit all of the forefathers and mothers. We started off with a visit to Chevron where a majority of the patriarchs and matriarchs are buried. We learned about the history of the city starting from Abraham buying the land all the way to modern day. Following the amazing spiritual beginning, we learned about the creation of the Etzion Bloc and how people went out of their way to create cities in the land of Israel.

We continued our journey Alon Shvut to see the lone tree that was a symbol of hope that the Jewish People would return. We also visited Machon Tzomet where we saw how they develop technology that works together with Jewish law. We rounded out the day with a visit to the final matriarch who is not buried with the rest. Rachel was buried alone in a tomb on the way to Jerusalem.

The end of the day the teens got to know their advisors with an advisor panel and a game of “which advisor is most likely to….” (Mordi would hurt himself dancing, Dafna is most like Phoebe from Friends).

Sorry for the omission last email but we spent an hour in a nursing home in Jerusalem yesterday, where we sang danced and even played chess and backgammon. To see more look at the pictures online!

We are sad as we begin our last day together in Israel!

Best,

Rabbi Yitz
