The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
Navigating the North

Dear NCSY TJJ BUS 3 Family,

The last few days our group has been navigating through the amazing northern part of Israel.

On Sunday, we hiked & bonded on Nachal Ksiv, where we went for a quick dip in the natural springs. Later, we toured through the ancient city of Acco. Our main stop was the Acco prison, where our group learned about the sacrifices of some of the men and women who were fighting for Israel even before it’s Independence.

On Monday, we went to an amazing view point up in Kibbutz Misgav Am, and we learned about the life of the members of the Kibbutz on this mountain top. We then got dressed for some more water adventures. First we walked through the nachal snir nature reserve, where we were able to swim and take in the views. To end off the day, we rafted down the Jordan River- at least we were rafting when we weren’t swimming or splashing.

Today, we saw the breathtaking natural grottoes of Rosh Hanikra. We learned about the important history of this strategic place, but we’re awed by the unique caverns inside. As we left the grottoes, we started making our way down south. We stopped to meet two amazing people. First we heard the inspiring story of Mr. Yossi Stechler and his personal journey. Then we heard from Rabbi Uri Pilchowski and his journey from Miami Rabbi to settler in Israel.

Our group is finished with the northern part of our journey. We have some exciting things in-store tomorrow before we travel down to Israel’s southern getaway, Eilat.

Make sure to see all these amazing sights in our picture albums on our website.

 Best,

Rabbi Dov Pianko
