Dear NCSY TJJ BUS 3 Family,

For the last few days we have been traveling the south of Israel. Our group has been seeing and feeling what desert life is like here in Israel.

After spending an inspiring Shabbos in the small town of Yerucham, we traveled through the amazing Negev desert.

First we viewed the giant Machtesh (no real accurate translation, as it is a geological phenomenon unique to Israel) and we learned about the geological history of Israel.

Then we headed over to the beautiful Ein Ovdat nature hike, where we saw native animals and got to experience the beauty of a desert oasis.

After, we went back to see the home of David Ben Gurion. David Ben Gurion was the founder of the state and the first prime minister. In addition, he loved the Negev. He wanted to take part in the building and cultivation of the land. We got to learn about his life and leadership.

Finally we spent the night in Chan Hasharoat, in Bedouin tents. It was a great experience, filled with camel riding, coffee making, and meditation under the stars.

This week we will be heading to the center of the country, to further our knowledge, growth and development.
