Dear Parents
Today as we marked the beginning of the three week mourning period of the destruction of the Temples, we had a day dedicated to the history of Israel and its wars and boundaries. We began looking at the border with Syria from Mount Bental and learned about the various wars of the State of Israel.
From there we traveled to Elaine Hoter’s house, a world renowned speaker about her son Gavriel who died in a terrorist attack during the Second Intifada. The teens were engaged and really connected to her story and loss.
The group then enjoyed a falafel before watching a movie on the Yom Kippur war and then traveled to Mitzpe Gadot where we heard from our tour guide, Rav Eli Migdal, about the Israeli spy, Elie Cohen, and how Israel captured the Golan Heights. We moved to Ohalo, alongside the Sea of Galilee where we enjoyed some free time before getting an early curfew before a big day, tomorrow!
Have a good night!
